Camping & Lodging

The property has recently added an 8x20' fully-furnished tiny house, Courtney's Getaway, which is available for short term rental. It has a queen bed in the loft, bathroom with tub, washer/dryer, full kitchen, two Roku TVs, dedicated wifi, deck, propane grill, and chiminea. We allow one-night stays. The camping sites, at the back of the front pasture, have water and 20, 30 and 50 amp electric service (no sewer). Dry camping (boondocking) with a day fee is also permitted.

barn and paddocks

Stabling

We have a six-stall barn with a tack/lounge. The four guest stalls are on the north side and have two attached lighted paddocks, sized 24' x 36'. The paddocks can also be used to stable additional horses, if necessary. The barn is well lit, and equipped with ground-fault plugs to be used with deicers in cold weather. There is a washrack behind the barn. There are two water troughs on the property, one in each pasture.

The gazebo has electrical outlets and can be used by all Cedar Grove guests. There are jump standards, traffic cones, and poles for schooling obstacles.

Riding locally

The barn is located within an hour's drive of several parks, and within 17 miles of two parks that permit equestrian use— Reimers Ranch and Pedernales State Park (photo above). In addition, Dripping Springs Ranch Park, a large show venue is 6.8 miles away, and Canyon Lake, Pace Bend Park, Onion Creek, and McKinney Roughs are all within an hour's drive.

Food & Drink

For a small town, Dripping Springs has some great restaurants. One local favorite is Rolling in Thyme and Dough, a bakery/restaurant, with a creative menu, including gluten-free options. El Rey, and Flores all offer Mexican food. Homespun Kitchen and Bar is a local favorite, kid and dog friendly, and offers an innovative yet inexpensive menu. If you're into Cajun food, try the West Henly Boil Shack, west of Dripping Springs on 290. It's also kid-friendly and very informal. The Pizza Cave provides us with creative pizzas, including gluten-free options, and The Switch in Belterra Village serves excellent BBQ. Standard fast food and HEB, seriously the best grocery store chain in the country, has a store located on 290W heading east from Creek Road. Mazama (a coffee shop) is located on Mercer Street.

In addition, there's also Balcones Canyonland Preserve between Reimers and Hamilton Pool, LBJ's Boyhood home in nearby Johnson City, LBJ Ranch (also in Johnson City), the Ladybird Johnson Wildflower Center (in southwest Austin), and swimming holes, Blue Hole and Jacob's Well in Wimberley.
